We’re excited to be hosting a Different Skies’ Writers meeting: all welcome
Different Skies writers’ meetings are an open forum for sharing works in progress and finished pieces. The purpose is to workshop pieces, experiment with modes of reading and performance, discuss the cultural and social context of writing, and conduct close-readings of texts, offering valuable critique and encouragement from peers.
Anyone can attend and share their work, and we’d love to reach out to people interested in writing in South London, as well as local community groups, students and arts organisations.
For this, the 19th writers’ meeting, we’re asking people to consider a line from our new about page (the closest we’ll ever come to a manifesto), which we’ll be launching at the meeting:
‘How to describe the shape of a broken world…’
Writers can respond however they want. The idea is to start a conversation about form, content, (post)modernity and (post)modernism, fragmentation, everyday life and the role of writing in our cracked up, twenty first century world.

If you would like to share work during the meeting please send your writing to editors@differentskies.net no later than 28th January.
Join us at New Cross Learning on Saturday 31st January. Meeting starts 2pm, 283-285 New Cross Road, London SE14 6AS.
Listeners, friends, and the purely curious are welcome too.
